Fallout 3 has latest patch.
Its a small but &*@?!! annoying glitch. When I Alt-Tab out of the game to >> do some desktop thing the game won't restore when I want to un minimize it >> to go back.
I can hear the sound come back on & there's a small flick of the screen
but the desktop stays visible with the game not displaying at all.
Some times (rarely) it does come back up..
I have the same problem. No idea why and yes, it's annoying.
Thankfully, I don't need to switch out of there very often and the
game starts up fairly fast when it's been running previously and lots
of data is in disk cache.
On the other hand, I expect to play FO3 a lot more, I haven't even
started Broken Steel yet and am eagerly awaiting for more DLC,
especially Mothership Zeta. So yes, having a fix to this would be
nice, but OTOH I don't want to fiddle with my system too much since it
works fine otherwise.
Try using Task Manager to switch back. It usually works.
Assistance for other problems:
I have problems with my Wallpaper Changer which likes to steal focus
for just long enough to disrupt things. I solved the problem by using
the following .cmd file. The pause command is necessary as the
Launcher program exits when you start the real game and, without the
pause, the .cmd file would continue and restore the Scheduler. I use a
similar file to start each game that gets disrupted by changing the
wallpaper.
